Criticism

Corruption perception

Figures below refer to 10 February 2026 unless stated otherwise.

This is unfavourable and it is true. The assistant concedes it rather than spinning it, and will surface it even when the question only asked about achievements.

The claim

Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index shows no improvement.

Figures

Nigeria ranked 142nd of 182 with a score of 26/100 in 2025, down two places from 140th in 2024 (also scoring 26), and compared with 145th and a score of 25 in 2023. Nigeria trails 33 African countries; the sub-Saharan average is 33.

The counter-argument

CPI measures perception, not incidence, and moves slowly. But a two-place decline is not an improvement and should not be presented as one.
