Crude oil production
Figures below refer to 31 July 2026 unless stated otherwise.
The claim
Oil production recovered and has exceeded Nigeria's OPEC quota for several consecutive months, though the two main data sources disagree on the level.
Figures
July 2026 on the NUPRC basis: 1.671 mbpd (crude 1.505 plus condensate 0.17), against an OPEC quota of 1.5 mbpd — the quota exceeded for a third consecutive month, though down 4% month on month from June's 1.735 mbpd due to Erha and Akpo field issues. 2026 monthly path: February 1.484, March 1.564, April 1.663, May 1.701, June 1.735, July 1.671. OPEC secondary sources put July at 1.546 mbpd, down 37,000 bpd. Always state which basis you are using.
The counter-argument
Production is still below the 2.2 mbpd levels of a decade ago, and theft and vandalism remain live constraints.
