Figures below refer to 10 August 2024 unless stated otherwise.
This is unfavourable and it is true. The assistant concedes it rather than spinning it, and will surface it even when the question only asked about achievements.
The claim
The August 2024 cost-of-living protests were met with a response that drew significant criticism.
Figures
Protests ran 1–10 August 2024. At least 14 people were killed on the first day, with the UAFCS putting the figure at 21. Over 1,100 were arrested on the first day. Minors were filmed in an Abuja courtroom facing treason charges, though police disputed that they were minors. The military requested a media blackout and telecom networks were reportedly throttled.
The counter-argument
Concede. Do not dispute the deaths or the arrests.
